Where Have The Women Gone?

Where Have The Women Gone?

Where are the women? Women industrial designers from university to workplace

The gender mix of the student population in the industrial design courses in Australia has been changing over the past ten years with a notable increase in the number of women graduating.  The UTS course is equally one of the largest courses in the country, maintains high demand and strong alumni connections. In this exhibition we want to recognise and celebrate the growing number of women who practice across a range of disciplines who’s foundations are in industrial design. We seek to identify and understand the individual, and the circumstances that contribute to the success of their chosen career. Participants are divided into two groups; Up and coming (less than 5 years experience) and Expert (5 or more years of experience). The works exhibited will range from industrial design soft goods, to electronics, to home goods and conceptual work.
