88021 Professional Internship: Vivid 2020 Sculptures

88021 Professional Internship: Vivid 2020 Sculptures

UTS Product Design is pleased to announce we’ll be providing an opportunity for students to design, produce, and install an artwork for exhibition in Vivid Sydney 2020.

The opportunity will be provided within 88021 Professional Internship, during the 2019-20 Summer session, and will be run in collaboration with Renzo B. Larriviere and Chris Daniel, both of whom are graduates of UTS Industrial Design and together have over 10 years’ experience in designing, producing, and installing large scale, activated public artworks around the world.

The project has been fortunate enough to secure investment from Destination NSW to facilitate the production of the work, meaning students will have a rare opportunity to work on a project with a real-world budget, client, and design brief. Destination NSW, the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, owns, manages and produces Vivid Sydney.

Students will hence progress through the same process professional artists and design teams go through in producing an artwork for Vivid Sydney, though will have the benefit of weekly guidance and expertise from Chris and Renzo. From creating and presenting an EOI application, to developing the design with input from the client and engineers, producing the piece, and finally installing it on-site as part of Vivid Sydney in May 2020, the project will be a totally unique learning opportunity.
